Section 15

1. The lorries with a maximum permissible weight of over 3.500 kg and the trailers must:
  • Be fitted with mud flaps on all wheels.
  • Be fitted with mud flaps on the wheels of the rear axle.
  • Be fitted with mud flaps on the wheels of the front axle.
2. Anti-rolling wedges (chocks) must be fitted to:
  • All lorries.
  • Lorries with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3.500 kg.
  • Lorries with a maximum permissible weight of over 3.500 kg.
3. The proper way to load a lorry is as follows:
  • The load must be stowed in one place, so that its loading and unloading be easy.
  • The load must be distributed as uniformly as possible on the floor surface, so as to lower the centre of gravity.
  • The load can be put in any place, because the load weight does not change.
4. The proper way to load a lorry is as follows:
  • A heavy individual object should not be put at the back of the vehicle or to either side.
  • Objects can be put to any place, because the load weight does not change.
  • A heavy individual object should be put at the back of the vehicle and to either side as possible.
5. The load carried by a lorry is allowed to jut out from the back of the lorry body by up to:
  • 30% of the body length.
  • 40% of the body length.
  • 50% of the body length.
6. When should a load transported by a lorry be indicated by a white plate of at least 0,5 x 0,5 m with diagonal red stripes?
  • When it juts out by over 0,40 m breadthwise from the external edge of lights of the vehicle.
  • When it juts out by over one (1) meter from the front or rear part of the vehicle.
  • When it juts out by over 30% of the length of the vehicle body.
7. If you exceed the maximum permissible weight or maximum permissible loading per axle by up to 10%, you will have to pay:
  • Fine of 50.000 drachmas.
  • Fine of 20.000 drachmas.
  • Fine of 100.000 drachmas.
8. If you exceed the maximum permissible weight or maximum permissible loading per axle by between 10% and 20%, the following punishment will be inflicted upon you:
  • Fine of 100.000 drachmas and immobilisation of the vehicle.
  • Fine of 20.000 drachmas and immobilisation of the vehicle.
  • Fine of 50.000 drachmas and immobilisation of the vehicle.
9. If you exceed the maximum permissible weight or maximum permissible loading per axle by over 20%, the following punishment will be inflicted upon you:
  • Fine of 100.000 drachmas, immobilisation of the vehicle and immediate taking away of the vehicle registration licence and number plates for 30 days
  • Fine of 200.000 drachmas, immobilisation of the vehicle and immediate taking away of the vehicle registration licence and number plates for 40 days.
  • Fine of 200.000 drachmas, immobilisation of the vehicle and immediate taking away of the vehicle registration licence and number plates for 60 days.
10. If a vehicle carries more than one hazardous materials, they should be indicated:
  • By a “hazardous materials carried” plate.
  • By a plate-label at the rear part.
  • By as many plates-labels (rear part) as are the hazardous materials.
